Jilly's Roasted Little Gem Lettuces
Recently I had several little gem lettuces to use up. My good friend Jill suggested I tried roasting them, and assured me that this would be lovely. It seemed such an alien thing to do that I had to give it a go. It's so simple and they really do taste great!
for 2 people you will need:
2 Little Gem Lettuces Olive Oil Ground Salt & Pepper
Cut the lettuces in half and remove outer leaves. Put them face down on a baking tray and drizzle with a little olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and bake for 15 mins at 190c. They will char and blacken slightly on the outside which is fine, though do remove before this goes too far!
We had ours with sausages, mash and gravy and they were really great! Serve your roasted lettuces on some retro dinner plates for the best effect ;o)
