Poole Celadon & Seagull Prewar Teaset for sale

This is a very special early pre war Twintone tea set from Poole Pottery. In the C67 Celadon and seagull colour way. The cups have a rich gloss turquoise green interior and the saucers are a mottled pastel creamy grey. There are 4 cups and saucers and a sugar bowl in this set. We have the teapot too :O)

Not to be confused with the later ice green/seagull - Celadon is a deep turquoise green, the glaze is named after that used on Chinese Pottery. Celadon is much darker than the 50s ice green (see photo which shows them side by side below). The 1930s seagull finish in this set has a more beige-y feel than the later 1950s seagull grey glaze, and the glazes are more shiny. Another two distinct differences are that the pottery is very much finer than the later Poole Pottery Twintone, and the cups are larger. Click to find out more in our Poole Pottery shop...
