Retro Greetings Cards are just Fab!

yay retro! just loves getting out and about in the world of Facebook, as you never know what lovely things you might come across. So many artists and creators show their wares there, and what makes it even nicer is you can have a little chat with them at the same time. Lil Vintage Makes is an retro Greeting Card & Art company from Bath, Somerset. Their designs are a blend of retro images, clean lines and fun candy colours and I was drawn immediately to the camper van and caravan cards, as well as the yummy ice lollies!

Lil Vintage Makes is run by Maxine, who started designing greetings cards in April 2013. She says: "as a vintage enthusiastic I struggled to find cards that reflected my style. I didn’t want shabby chic & pastels, I wanted colourful and stylish! So I set out to make fun retro cards that reminded me of my childhood, and favourite retro images!"

All of Maxine's cards are available to buy direct from her website You can  also buy from Lil Vintage Make's Facebook page and selected items on the folksy page. She has also just begun to sell wholesale & so her cards are also available from various retailers across the South West.

Maxine tells us that she gets her inspiration from having what she thinks of as ‘polkadot vision’! She might see a particular colour combination, a trip to the seaside or a vintage fair, or  just seeing a scottie dog whilst walking along...and this can result in a new design.
Maxine's dream is to own an airstream caravan for holidaying and a tiny vintage caravan for a card shop or stall at fairs - her cards often feature caravans as well as campers!

Maxine tells us she uses retro and vintage crockery at home including a retro a coffee set, a large collection of vintage pyrex (for crumbles!), glassware for cocktails and pretty china for afternoon teas! She and her husband love yay retro!'s rare Poole cruet set -  as it has fabulous colours, and the 50s is her perfect era :O)

Check out Lil Vintage Make's website here or pop into the yay retro! shop now :O)
