Claire Henley chats to yay retro! about her paintings

Whilst wandering around in Facebook recently we came across the wonderful paintings of Claire Henley, an artist based in Stratford upon Avon. We loved the china jugs and bowls she was using in her work, the Farrow and Ball-esque colours and the textural aspects of her paintings.

Claire trained at Harrow College of Art, and then took a Graphic Design degree. Since then she has designed cards, toys, stationery, home wares and textiles as well as illustrating and/or writing over 100 children's books!

You can find her work in art galleries such as  The Whistle Fish,  who sell originals, prints and cards,  and The Harbour Gallery and Burford who sell Claire's original paintings.

You can also browse and buy cards on Claire's own website

Claire tells us that she always has work on her walls at home and is happy to show anyone who's interested, and for the next fortnight she is involved in the Warwickshire Open Studios.

Claire has a treasured dish which belonged to her Mum...made in Holland it depicts lots of people on push bikes - truly fab! When it comes to yay retro! she loves the vintage rolling pin we have in our shop. It reminds Claire of her Nana who was a great baker :O)

You can find out more about Claire's paintings on her Facebook page here or on her website here

Looking for retro or vintage china jugs? have a browse around yay retro! now :O)
