Time for Vintage Tea!
Wow - What a find! Fabulous 50's sandwich server with 6 plates. This set from Johnson Bros has a red rose design, on a grey hand drawn grid effect, and is in perfect vintage condition.
Ideal for serving a vintage tea, why not try making scones - they are so easy - we'll be making our favourite cheese scones later today!
Cheese Scones Recipe from our trusty 1970s Stork Margerine Cook book!
8oz Self Raising Flour
1 level tsp baking powder
2 oz margerine
4 oz Grated Cheese
7 tbsp milk
Salt and Pepper
Place all ingredients into a bowl (or better still a food processer), mix to form a soft dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured board, lightly knead and roll out to about 2.5cm/ 1" thickness. We normally just pat it out into a flat shape!
Either cut out using pastry cutters or just slice with a knife into about 8 - 10 pieces.
Place on a baking sheet (no need to grease), bake in pre-heated oven Gas 7 / 425F/ 220c for 12 - 15 minutes until golden brown.
Easy and delicious! If you prefer sweet scones, take out the cheese, salt and pepper, and add 1 oz sugar.
