Retro Illustrator - Sean Sims
Recently yay retro! was having a wander about on Facebook as you do, and came across the wonderful work of Sean Sims, an illustrator & self confessed nick-nack hoarder who lives & works in Brighton.
I was immediately struck by his illustration called 'Happy' as it was such a positive statement and well, so retro! This led me on to have a look around on the web for more of his work, where I found cards, posters, wrapping papers and more to buy!

Originally from Middlesbrough, Sean trained as an illustrator at The Cleveland College of Art & Design / University of Teesside. He is both a qualified illustrator & a design historian.

Sean sells his work through on-line stores 'Brighton POD' and 1973, and tells us he has loved mid 20th Century design since he was at school, and has subsequently become a bit of a collector of 40s-70s stuff!
He has a full Portmeirion Totem dinner service which is in daily use, and various other vintage wares dotted around the kitchen...Seans favourite item in the yay retro! shop are the fabulous zingy yellow Staffordshire mugs shown above with Seans brilliant 'visit north laine Brighton' poster (available at Brighton POD).

Camper van enthusiasts are going to love Sean's VW camper card designs (from 1973), we popped this lovely illustration of an orange Splitty with a set of hazlenut 60s Gaydon from the yay retro! shop - nice.
Update: yay retro! now sell actual framed vintage 1960/70s pictures in our shop, including those by Alain Grée, Károly Reich and Reidar Johan Berle. Click here to see the framed pictures we have for sale at the moment.
