I've always collected jugs as I love the sculptural shapes and styles they come in. Back in the 90s I had a rather 'terrible' shelving showcase thing with twiddley carved wooden embellishments to house them in!
I've now trimmed down my collection and have started using some of the jugs every day in the kitchen (measuring, storing, pouring), and then others serve as ornaments dotted around the house, on windowsills, sideboards, mantlepieces, still on show but in a very minimalistic way.
On of my favourites is my Grans teeny woodsware jug which is a primrose yellow, I use it for mint sauce - the rest of the time it has prime position on my kitchen shelf to remind me of her.
I don't know why, but jugs really do make me smile!
Here are some lovely ones for sale in the yay retro! vintage china shop at the moment, they include Blue Alpine from Midwinter, a rather wonderful large pitcher jug, and a teeny ditsy daisy jug from Grindley .blog comments powered by Disqus
