yay retro! feature The Ochil Tree's handmade coasters

Recently yay retro! came across the lovely work of Nikki from The Ochil Tree from Dunblane. We particularly liked her range of coasters (though she does make purses, bags and other homewares such as cushions too). Nikki who has been sewing for 'more years than she can remember' is obsessed with fabrics, particularly Japanese designs and bold Scandinavian style prints. Her attention to detail is beautiful and we just love her fabric choices.

Nikki says: "I love clean and simple designs and patterns, especially retro designs. I find there are so many fantastic fabric collections to choose from, sometimes it can be a challenge to narrow down which to use".

She says she has quite a few pieces of retro china in her kitchen, some of which have been passed down to her, and she is adding to her collection whenever she can. She especially loves anything duck egg or pastel blue, so her favourite items in the yay retro! shop are the Abstract Bone China Teaset and the ice green Poole Pottery Twintone trio. We think they look great alongside Nikki's Scandi Coasters...what do you think?
