Vintage Valentines Day Gifts at yay retro! now

Valentines day is the next gift giving day for all you romantics out there and here at yay retro! we've already had people buying vintage valentines day pressies such as our yay retro! gift vouchers and retro wares from the 1950s, 60s and 70s with that pink or red tinge!

We have so many lovely gift ideas in our online shop that we thought we would highlight just a few that would make lovely presents. We've stuck with the red theme here, but a quick visit to our Vintage Gift section will open your eyes to lots more vintage gift giving ideas.

First up is our sweet vintage fabric Folk Art birds, each of these unique and good sized ornamental birds are made from 60s & 70s linens and are ideal to perch on a shelf, in a nook or even in a bowl (in a nest-like fashion). We have several of these cuties to brighten dark corners in our home. Affordable, kitsch and fun each bird is different to the rest.

Most vintage collectors hanker after a red enamel teapot or kettle and Arabia Finel of Finland is a brand that stands out for being the best quality. Designed by Kaj Franck in the 1960s, these come in several stunning floral patterns and are always lusted after!

A Chance Glass handkerchief vase was almost a status symbol in the 1960s, having one of these showed you had to the minute style and taste. My Mum had one on the windowsill in bright red, showing we were bang-on-trend! These were made in all sorts of patterns and colours and today sees many glass collectors aiming for one of each type.

The vintage mosaic artworks we sell at yay retro! are made by Box of Frogs Mosaics in Lincolnshire. Each is a unique one of design made from pieces of vintage plates, dish and cups. We have mosaic fish, birds, flowers and much more to choose from, you can see them all by searching 'mosaic' in our shop.

Another key brand that collectors adore is Poole Pottery. One of the nicest pieces to own is the biscuit barrel as it is stylish and also useful. The first Poole Pottery Twintone glaze was launched in the 1950s and was red indian and magnolia. This lovely combo was based on the US trend for red and white kitchens. This is one of the rarer Twintone glazes and so we are delighted to have a biscuit barrel in this colour way in our shop.

Red apple motifs remain a popular choice with vintage lovers, so a top choice might be our super-duper French Henkel Storage jar. Cute, kitsch and a happy bright red, we'd fill it with sweets and give to the love of our life any day of the week!

Many of the gift ideas at yay retro! are really affordable coming in at under or around £10. Take for example our extensive range of framed picture book illustrations from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. These have proved massively popular since we launched them this month, with many customers buying several at once with combined postage. We have many different vintage artists and illustrators work in superb quality box frames and these start at just £9.75! It's definitely worth hopping in to yay retro! today for a browse and shop.
