Alternative Vintage Christmas Decoration Ideas from yay retro!
When it comes to decorating your vintage home at Christmas time, it's a lovely idea to incorporate vintage wares in unique and unusual ways. A vintage Sklo Union 1960/70s ashtray stood upright can become a sparkling window for light to shine through on a window sill...or why not put fairy lights behind it on a shelf? A collection of glass apples or pears can be arranged in groups with holly to fantastic effect underneath your Christmas tree or in a fruit bowl. Whilst glass vases and dishes can be filled with baubles ahead of Christmas day and then sweets and treats on the day itself. A Chance handkerchief vase would be wonderful full of shiny balls!
yay retro! have lots of clearance items which lend themselves to becoming Christmas decorations for a few weeks, prior to being centre stage in the New Year. Our tall green bobble decanter is only £7.50 and would look amazing with a sprig of holly in it. The glass bird paperweights are only £12.50 the pair and would be superb sprinkled in snow or stood in front of a holly covered mirror. We adore our cheeky gnome, he would look cute indoors at Christmas and then outdoors in the spring amongst your daffodils don't you think?
Pyrex with snowflake decorations is ideal for cooking, but we know a lot of vintage lovers use theirs in their lounge as it is so attractive...fill with little presents or treats in the lead up to Christmas day!
We even have geese-a-laying and Swans-a-swimming! Not sure what our extra long 1950s sausage dog is doing but he would definitely look cute as anything bedecked in tinsel! Check out our vintage ornaments here.
