Vintage Teak & Tile from yay retro!

As well as selling vintage Flower Power china, yay retro! also love a good dose of teak and tile items. Wyncraft began making wooden serving boards and holders back in the 1950s. Their signature gold wire frameworks held glassware, cruet sets and later came with tiled sections for cutting and serving cheese, lemon slices, olives etc. Alan Wallwork was one of the artists who designed tiles for the company, and his work is now highly collectable (see bottom left of picture).

By the time the 70s came along, hosting dinner parties and supper & drinks soirees at home was very popular. This meant everyone wanted posh table and barware to show off their nibbley bits! Happily they were not often used, and many times were kept in the G Plan or Ercol sideboard for 'best' - this means we vintage collectors can get our hands on some wonderful quality vintage wares from the period!

Whether you choose to use your vintage teak and wooden items, or just pop them on display in your home, we just know you'll love browsing the yay retro! vintage shop - look out for our brightly coloured tiled boards from the 1960s & 70s, along with original vintage storage jars with wooden lids from the likes of Hornsea & Crown Devon!
