Modflowers meets yay retro! sharing a passion for great design!

Recently yay retro! stumbled upon the work of Sharon from Modflowers,  and fell in love with the incredible fabric designs she was using in her quilts, cushions and brooches. Unbeknown to us, Modflowers had stumbled upon yay retro! and we both got in touch at the same time ;O)

Modflowers is based in Nottingham, and Sharon tells us she has "a serious addiction to vintage fabrics from the 1960s and 1970s and that she loves to combine them to create fresh, modern cushions, quilts and other lovely stuff."

Sharon has always loved sewing, after her Mum taught her the techniques when she was little, and ever since she was a teenager she has secretly harboured an ambition to make things and sell them...As you can see in the image above, Modflowers makes cushions in all shapes, as well as quilts and even fabric covered bird brooches. Her favourite fabrics of all time include the designs produced by Heals in the mid 1960s; 'Fragrance' by Dorothy Evans, 'Rhapsody' by Michael Griffin and 'Water Meadow' by Colleen Farr.

She also loves the bold floral 1970s tea sets in the yay retro! shop, such as Katrina seen below...
