We don't claim to be antique experts here at yay retro! but we think the black, red and yellow design on this hors d'oeuvres tray is absolutely typical 1950's.
It would be perfect for serving biscuits, little cakes and sandwiches, or to stylishly serve olives and tapas.
Typical retro nibbles such as celery sticks filled with Dairylea or cream cheese, pineapple and cheese cocktail sticks or boiled eggs filled with curried mayonnaise would also be a great idea.
Here's an easy recipe for Curried Mayonnaise Eggs:
Simply hard boil your eggs, let them cool, peel off the shells and cut them in half. Mix some mayo, salt & pepper and curry powder, add the egg yolks and mash together. Spoon the filling back into the egg white, or if feeling very posh use an icing bag to refill them with a flourish!
