Wonderful Vintage Place Mats

These wooden placemats look to be from the 1940s or 50s and are absolutely divine! They are made from a very nice quality wood which is smooth (and actually very stroke-able) to the touch. The wood has been coloured red, black and a yellowy green, and cut into diamonds and squares. These have then been invisibly stitched together to create a flexible yet strong place mat. There are 5 mats in the set. Very unusual and stylish.

If you are looking for something from the 70s, how about these?  They are round melamine table mats which have brightly coloured raspberry designs, and are from Taunton Vale. These were from my bottom drawer when I got engaged in 1978 - they are lovely, and have been well looked after!
